I decided to blog my mom’s work. It is called Constitution State Corporate Federal Credit Union. I am not really sure what she does there, because she probably told me and I forgot=]. So, as you can guess, I asked them what they do at their work. I have gotten a response:

I work for Constitution Corporate Federal Credit Union here in
Wallingford.  We are a “clearinghouse bank” for Credit Unions.  What that means is that we take in their deposits, verify them and send all their checks or files of their checks onto the Federal Reserve so that they can get their money faster. On top of that we handle their foreign items, deposits of their savings bonds, return items, stop payments, photo requests, and monthly provide them with statements.  Our company also offers them many other services such as wiring money for them, investments, ACH, and also offer all their members accounts on line so that the customers can access their account when they need to.  We have credit unions in CT, VA, MI, and MA. We have about 65 people who work for us. Our main office is the one here in Wallingford and we also have another office in
Auburn, MA and our website designers have offices in various states as well.

To get to their site, you need to work there so I couldn’t go on it or give a link/picture.

I read a blog called spiderblog. I could not comment it, but if I could I would have left this comment:

spiderblog: I really enjoyed your blog on spiders. I liked the blog on leaf curler spiders because it was very interesting. I used to think spiders were boring, but I think you’ve changed my mind. I considered a blog on monkeys, but I figured since I knew enough about them, I wanted to try something else. Spiders were the first thing that popped into my head, so i picked that. I learned about leaf-curler spiders which was very interesting. I don’t usually like spiders, but I liked that particular blog.

The leaf curling spider (phonognatha graeffei), Family Tetragnathidae) is ubiquitous in the Sydney area. They’re everywhere, and you can easily pick them out in the undergrowth by their pretty distinctive webs. They build a typical orb web but with a twist- literally. On the upper part of the web, you can usually see a dried leaf that’s been curled in to a retreat, and the spider usually pokes its legs outside the leaf

That quote is from spiderblog  the picture was taken by

the quote from spiderblog’s blog is really interesting to me and it made me want to read his whole post on them. It was the most important paragraph on the blog

I am listening to the mayor:

my car is a greenish grey

well, I think you look at what is happening in the world. there will be more competition , alot of manufacturing jobs will be gone. smaller companies will be more popular later. You’ve got to be effective communicators to be able to explain your ideas be a product for you to make a living. Population change in more people 62 and over than teens. Avalanche of older population looking at 600 fewer students just in our town increase pressures to provide leadership and skills to provide services with health-care being an issue. Increased immigration and we’ll be competing with other countries that may have better work ethic and come here to succeed and make a success of working here and there’s a real pressure of being an effective person. I think technology is always a role and gets overemphasized. It may not be standard later in the future. There will bemore employment but it will be perhaps different types. we’ll have more small and medium sized corporation instead of big companies. food is going to be an increasing issue. drinking water is a big issue for the future. huge popular of older people. who will take care for them? this country is not prepared for our future.

have to be able to deal with other people is extremely important. Technology skills will be important. we need people with skills to design and draft. how to take an idea and turn it into a product that can be sold. language will be important. steel company in our town has  companies in Mexico and Ireland and are looking for Russia.

I think the heart is critical, puts the energy into things. it’s the enthusiasm . heart and soul is who you are.

chances are what you are using today will change 5 to 10 years from now.

what are thoughts regarding content on children’s ability to learn adapt and grow.         if u go out to play a game and a group of your friends say lets play football, and only 1 person knows the rules, who’s going to dominant in deciding how ur gonna play? it’s gonna be the person who knows the rules that dominates.

(will info learn in school be useless)I don’ t think so. those principals how you interpret language of content always going  back to previous knowledge.read wat u do for birds and I saved a little baby bird. A couple of days later I opened the box to feed the bird and it flew out and away . It turned into a magical animal and it went to live in a tree in my yard. everyday it would come to me for the next 2 weeks.

(most important sub.)    cant tell u if 1 sub. more important than another. each sub. has its own special nature and they all link to one another.

(most important take away message) a kangaroo was put in a zoo and the built a 10 foot fence. The next morning they found it had went over the 10 foot fence. The next day they built a 12 foot fence and it was over the fence the next day Then a 13 foot fence and it still was past the fence in the morining. Then they built a 30 foot fence and then they went there in the morning and it still was over the fence.  Someone asked the kangaroo how long he will go until he cant get over and he sed oh a 100 feet, as long as they keep forgetting to lock the gate.

(do you think technology is used too much) I get concerned wen using it in elementary. you need information in your head. maybe overemphasized sometimes. computers answer will only be as good as what the teacher put in it. sometimes we lose sight of this. You’ve got to have knowledge in your head

As you may know I really enjoy football, but I know nothing on Rugby. I got inspired to write about rugby when I was flipping through the channels and saw rugby on. First of all rugby balls are more oval than footballs. They are also lighter, so they’re easier to kick field goals. If you get tackled 5 times you can punt the ball, and hope your team gets the ball, which would be a touchdown, or you do something called a skrum. A skrum is when all but two people on each get in a circle. The ball is dropped in the middle, and everyone kicks at one another trying to get the ball back to your team, but you can only use your feet. At a kick-off if you touch the ball and drop it you are down right there. Also, no one can block for you and you have to pass the backwards, not forwards. If you get a touchdown, you have to touch the ground with the ball and you cannot tackle above the shoulders. A try is when a player gorunds the ball in the in-goal area of the opponent and it’s worth 5 points. A penalty try is when an opponent commits foul play, but they would’ve scored. It is also worth 5 points. A conversion goal is when a players team scores a try. They get the oppurtunity to gather two extra points. A penalty is worth 3 points, and is scored when one of the players kicks a goal from a penalty kick. When an opponent makes a foul, a penalty is awarded. A dropped kick, worth 3 points, is when one of the players kicks a goal from a drop kick in general play.

If you want to know a little more about rugby or where I got my information you can go to these links.

Global Warming:

Global warming is caused by two things, man made and natural causes. Man-made causes include pollution and burning fossil fuels which leads to pollution. Fossil fuels give off c02 when they’re burned, and co2 is a green house gas. Population is also a big factor, because the more people there are, the more transportation is needed, which means more pollution. We breath out c02, and trees take our co2 in, but since we’re cutting trees down and not replacing them, the co2 is being released and there are less trees to take it in.

The natural effects are arctic tundra and wetlands releasing methane. Since methane is a greenhouse gas, and it traps heat in the earth’s atmosphere. Also earth has about a climate change that usually lasts about 40,000 years.

If we replant trees after cutting them down we would have a lot less co2, and we would e helping save our planet. If people try to use as little transportation involving methane as possible, that would also help our planet. We are not only hurting ourselves, but we are hurting the cold climate areas, and are causing everything to melt. If people realized this, our planet would be much better.

Life Blogging!(true story)

Vikings  7   Away 18  4th quarter. 10 minutes to go.

It was our(vikings) ball. We had to score twice in ten minutes and we didn’t even need the extra point. Just two touchdowns. We start our drive off pretty good. It was about 3rd and 5, I don’t quite recall, and we threw a pass to our tight end. He catches the ball and runs down the sideline, stiff arming about 3 people and jumping over one tackle, to the end-zone. We get the extra point. Now we were down by only 4. We had to score. We kick the ball off to the other team. They throw an incomplete pass. They run a sweep for about 5 yards. Then they throw another incomplete pass. Now it’s 4th and 5. Then they run for a first down. Then they go through another 1st down through 4th down, but are stopped short. Now it’s our turn. We run the ball, and the next play pass to, you guessed it, the tight end. This time he catches the ball, but a flag goes up. He stops. Our coaches yelled at him to keep running, so he takes it down the sidelines, just making it into the end-zone before being hit. The flag was on the defense for pass interference. which is when they make too much contact with the guy trying to catch the ball. We got the extra point, so now the score was 21 to 18, us. Now there is about 2 minutes left, but none of us realized this because the clock said about 4 minutes. We had to hold them. Then our genius kicker kick the ball to their biggest player, and he gets to about their own 40. The start a drive getting them to our 13. They had a first down, and had to get to the 3 yard-line to get another first down. They throw a pass, which is deflected. Then they run two plays in a row to the left, but we held them to 4th and about 5. They run a fake to the left, and the running-back takes the ball to the right. He breaks a tackle, but is then stopped about 3 yards short by our linebacker. Then something unexpected happened. The referee takes his hat off, and lifts it above his head. This meant it was the end of the game. Our team had made an amazing 4th quarter comeback. Now we’re 4 and 2, or 4 wins and 2 losses. Their entire team was mad, and didn’t say a word. Our team usually isn’t that good, so you could hear them say, ” I can’t believe we lost.” This is my amazing and exciting life story.

If you were at the game, or played in it like me, please let me know if there is anything I’m missing.

I listened to a podcast about bees. I would have watched pod-casts on football, but they didn’t seem very interesting, and then while looking up animal pod-casts I found a site called Animals Aloud. I went down the list and that’s how I found the podcast on the bees. I learned that bees, when put with different paintings of flowers were attracted to Van Gogh’s painting the most. They did this experiment by using bees who had never seen a flower before, and connecting a tube from their nest to a box with different paintings(well, poster copies of them). They would record every time a bee landed on a painting, where it landed, and how long it stayed there. Each experiment with each “painting” was 4 minutes long. Van Gogh’s painting had 146  approach flights, 99 of which were to flowers. His painting had 15 landings, and 13 were on flowers. I thought it was really interesting, especially considering that in a poll, the sane painting was the number 6 favorite painting in the world as rated by humans. The bad news is they had no place for me to comment on it, so I couldn’t tell them how I enjoyed it. :-(

The obstacles that keep me from fulfilling my goals and dreams

My dream would be to get an offer to play for a professional football team. I would love getting picked in the draft, and signing a contract with an NFL team. Football is my life right now, and playing in the NFL would be one of my dreams. There is a big obstacle in the way though. Not to many people are picked though, and you have to be great at what you do. I am only 13, and I don’t know how good I’ll be by the time I would get to the point where I could get picked. There are many people who were born to play football, and there would be a lot of competition. Also, you have to have good grades in college. There is a lot of pressure, which also affects your chances. It is a tough thing to do. After all of this, you have to go through team cuts. There can only be a certain number of people on the team, and they slowly cut them from the team. Many people are good, because they are returning players, so the bars are raised even more. These are all definitely obstacles in the way of my dream and goal.

The Philadelphia Eagles are my favorite NFL team. I have liked them for at least 4 years, and they definitely perform differently every year.  They were founded in 1933, and have made it to two super bowls, and had three NFL titles.

Here are some links to some more eagles facts, and them in action.
